Martyrdom of four army personnel- PM says the war against terrorism is a war for the survival of Pakistan as an independent country
Four security personnel, including a Major were martyred while foiling a devastating terrorist activity at Sherotkai, Timergara in Dir. According to ISPR, Major Ali Salman along with his team conducted an Intelligence Based Operation against a terrorist hideout in the area in the wee hours. The martyred security personnel include Major Ali Salman, Havaldar Ghulam Nazir, Havaldar Akhtar and Sepoy Abdul Karim.
Meanwhile, while expressing deep grief, Prime Minsiter Shahid Khaqan Abbasi saysour valiant forces have inflicted huge damage upon terrorist elements, but at the same time they have rendered huge sacrifices. Each drop of blood of our heroes is a testament to the fact that we all are united as a nation to cleanse our beloved motherland from terrorist elements.
PM says provision of clean and affordable power to consumers is a key to development
Chairing a meeting on the issue pertaining to energy sector in Islamabad, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says ensuring energy security is government's highest priority. The Prime Minister directs Finance and Power Ministries to jointly work out revalidation of individual factors contributing to the circular debt, focus on improving efficiencies and out-of-the-box solutions for resolving the issue. Talking to Minister for Water Resources Syed Javed Ali Shah in Islamabad, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi directs to undertake proactive measures for increasing water storage capacity of the country. Water security is of prime concern for the government in view of impacts of climate change on Pakistan. The government is cognizant of the water management issues and has therefore established separate ministry for water resources.

Azadi train starts its countrywide journey from Saturday to mark 70th independence anniversary celebrations
Pakistan Railways announces schedule of Aazadi Train, to be run on the occasion of country's 70th Independence Day. The journey of this special train will begin from Margalla Station Islamabad on Saturday 12th August and conclude at Karachi on 25th of this month. The special train includes five galleries, depicting sacrifices rendered for achieving independence. The galleries also depict sacrifices of the armed forces and Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir. These galleries will also depict the culture of all provinces.
