In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Gilani has hailed the overwhelming response shown by the people of Jammu and Kashmir to his call for the strike on the fourth martyrdom anniversary of prominent Kashmiri youth leader, Burhan Muzaffar Wani.
In a series of tweets today, Syed Ali Gilani said that the support to the shutdown call had again proven that the resolve of the Kashmiri people to liberate their homeland from Indian occupation remained alive and unwavering.
In a statement, Hurriyat leader, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War, said that martyr Wani created a state of constant fear in the hearts and minds of the occupational Indian forces while the Kashmiri people would always remember him for his great sacrifice.
Meanwhile, a Dogra group under the banner of the United Democratic Alliance staged a protest demonstration in Jammu city against the new domicile rules introduced by the Narendra Modi-led fascist government in Kashmir.
On the other hand, United Nations Special Rapporteurs have made public their third communication forwarded to India since August 5, 2019 when Narendra Modi-led fascist government repealed the special status of occupied Kashmir and placed the territory under military siege.
The UN urged Indian government to conduct a prompt and impartial investigation into the allegations of arbitrary killings, torture and ill-treatment and to prosecute perpetrators under Articles 6 of the International Covenant of Civil and Political Rights, and Articles 7 and 12 of the Committee Against Torture.
