President Mamnoon accords assent to 22nd Constitutional Amendment Bill

The President has accorded his assent to Constitution's 22nd Amendment Bill, 2016. The bill envisages qualifications and procedure for appointment of Chief Election Commissioner and members of the Election Commission of Pakistan. The President also gave his assent to the National Database and Registration Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and Delimitation of Constituencies (Amendment) Bill, 2016. The president approved the summary initiated by Senate Secretariat, on the advice of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The bill states that in case there is no consensus between the prime minister and the Leader of the Opposition over appointment of the CEC, then both of them shall send separate lists to the Parliamentary Committee for consideration, and the committee shall approve one of them.

Government is committed to provide basic facilities to people of FATA

British Secretary of State for International Development Ms Justine Greening called on Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra in Peshawar. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said the government is committed to provide basic facilities to people of FATA.  The British Secretary assured that her country will continue its cooperation with Pakistan to promote peace and stability in FATA.
