The United States, Japan and South Korea today sought additional UN Security Council sanctions against the North Korean regime.

The demand came after a meeting between US President Donald Trump, his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in, and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Hamburg, Germany.

According to a joint statement issued after the meeting, the leaders pressed for early adoption of a new UNSC resolution with additional sanctions to demonstrate to the North Korea about serious consequences for its destabilising, provocative, and escalatory actions.
