According to ISPR, two persons including a girl were martyred and three others wounded in the firing.


The Indian forces used small and heavy arms, including mortars.

Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanveer Hussain says the government is focused to develop local industries and build capacity of human resource in the wake of establishment of industrial zones under CPEC.


He was addressing the18th session of Pak-China Joint Committee on Science and Technology in Islamabad today.


The Minister said the Corridor project has also necessitated strengthening of linkages between academia and industries for which universities are being revitalized.


Speaking on the occasion, Chinese Minister for Science and Technology Wan Gang said the leadership of two countries have taken bilateral cooperation to new heights in diverse fields.



International Development Fund of Oil Producing and Exporting Countries has agreed to provide soft loan of fifty million dollars for development of FATA.


Sources at FATA Secretariat told Radio Pakistan Peshawar correspondent that the amount will be utilized for Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Programme launched by the federal government in tribal areas.


Under the programme, educational, health, irrigation, water supply and sanitation facilities are being enhanced in the tribal belt.


The sources said more than two million people of the tribal areas will benefit from the programme.



Police and Frontier Corps have arrested ninety-eight suspects in a joint search operation in Killi Ismail area of Quetta.



The first death anniversary of renowned philanthropist, humanist and social activist Abdul Sattar Edhi is being observed today.  



In his message on the occasion of death anniversary of Abdul Sattar Edhi, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Edhi's like personalities are an asset not only for the country but the whole humanity. 


Paying glowing tributes to him, Nawaz Sharif said Abdul Sattar Edhi devoted his entire life in the service of humanity while rising above the caste, creed and colour discrimination.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the anniversary is being observed with a renewed pledge to continue the mission of martyrs till success of the struggle for liberation of Kashmir.


Today's strike is part of a weeklong protest called by the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.


Meanwhile curfew and other restrictions have been put in the held valley and over 20,000 additional troops have been deployed to check pedestrian and vehicular movement.



All Parties Hurriyat Conference staged a peaceful demonstration in Islamabad today to pay tribute to Buhan Wani.


The protesters were holding placards and banners inscribed with anti-India slogans.



Eight renowned international footballers including former Brazilian footballers Ronaldinho and Roberto Carlos have arrived in Pakistan.


According to the Leisure League Pakistan, Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos, Nicolas Anelka, Robert Pires, Luis Boa Morte, David James, George Boateng and Ryan Giggs are also part of this group of football stars.


Two football matches will be played during their visit.
