Political, religious and social organizations have chalked out a number of programs to pay homage to the young Kashmiri freedom fighter who lost his life while striving for the freedom of his motherland.
The day dawned with special prayers for the martyrs and victory of the freedom movement in Kashmir.
A debate competition of students titled “The Role of Burhan Muzaffar Wani in Kashmir Liberation Struggle” held in Muzaffarabad under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell.
All Parties Hurriyat Conference staged a peaceful demonstration in Islamabad to pay tribute to Burhan Wani.
The protesters were holding placards and banners inscribed with anti-India slogans.

Meanwhile, curfew and other restrictions had been put in the held valley and over 20,000 additional troops had been deployed.
Mobile and Internet services were also suspended in the occupied area.
Burhan Wani, along with two other associates, was martyred by Indian troops during a fake encounter in Kokernag area of Islamabad district last year.
The joint resistance leadership had announced a week-long protest programme to mark the occasion.
The Amarnath Yatra on Srinagar-Jammu highway was suspended,Saturday, due to shutdown.
