Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and elsewhere in the world marked the first martyrdom anniversary of Kashmiri freedom fighter Burhan Muzaffar Wani on Saturday.  

The anniversary was observed with a renewed pledge to continue the mission of martyrs till success of the struggle for liberation of Kashmir. 

Political, religious and social organizations have chalked out a number of programs to pay homage to the young Kashmiri freedom fighter who lost his life while striving for the freedom of his motherland.

The day dawned with special prayers for the martyrs and victory of the freedom movement in Kashmir.  

A debate competition of students titled “The Role of Burhan Muzaffar Wani in Kashmir Liberation Struggle” held in Muzaffarabad under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell.  

Azad Kashmir Radio Muzaffarabad and Mirpur aired special programs in connection with the first martyrdom anniversary of Burhan Muzaffar Wani.  

All Parties Hurriyat Conference staged a peaceful demonstration in Islamabad to pay tribute to Burhan Wani.

The protesters were holding placards and banners inscribed with anti-India slogans. 

In occupied Kashmir, the first martyrdom anniversary of Burhan Muzaffar Wani was observed amid complete shutdown and strict curfew restrictions on Saturday.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the anniversary was observed with a renewed pledge to continue the mission of martyrs till success of the struggle for liberation of Kashmir.

Meanwhile, curfew and other restrictions had been put in the held valley and over 20,000 additional troops had been deployed.

Mobile and Internet services were also suspended in the occupied area.

Burhan Wani, along with two other associates, was martyred by Indian troops during a fake encounter in Kokernag area of Islamabad district last year.

The joint resistance leadership had announced a week-long protest programme to mark the occasion.

The Amarnath Yatra on Srinagar-Jammu highway was suspended,Saturday, due to shutdown.

In Islamabad, All Parties Hurriyat Conference staged a peaceful demonstration on Saturday to pay tribute to Buhan Wani.
