SARTAJ AZIZ:

Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has said that terrorism can only be defeated with unity and cooperation of the international community.

 

Talking to newsmen in Islamabad on Friday, he said the forthcoming NATO Summit in Warsaw is taking place under the long shadows of terrorism, turmoil and continuing conflicts.

 

The Adviser said operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan and concerted operations in other parts of the country against terrorists have been very successful and its dividends have started reaching the people of Pakistan.

 

He said Pakistan appreciates acknowledgement of our contributions by the international community in the war against terrorism.

 

Sartaj Aziz said dividends of our counter-terrorism operation will also help in bolstering the Afghan peace process. 

MARYAM:

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is returning home tomorrow after successful heart surgery in London.

    

This has been confirmed by his daughter Maryam Nawaz in a tweet.

    

She said the Prime Minister would be reaching home tomorrow evening.

    

Maryam Nawaz thanked people of Pakistan for praying for the early recovery of Nawaz Sharif.

 

Meanwhile, Pakistan International Airlines has deputed a dedicated aircraft to bring back Prime Minister's Camp Office partly shifted to London due to his health issues.

 

A PIA Spokesperson clarified that an aircraft had to be dedicated for this purpose as the required seats were not available in regular flights.

 

The spokesman said there would not be any significant delay in PIA flights due to Prime Minister's special flight.

   

He said alternate arrangements have been made by PIA to facilitate the passengers.    

 

PAK-GERMANY:

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq called on German Chancellor Angela Merkel at Berlin in Germany.

 

They expressed satisfaction over the status of bilateral relations between the two countries.

 

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said Pakistan and Germany enjoy cordial relations based on common interests and shared perceptions on major international issues.

     

He said Pakistan strongly desires to further diversify its existing relations with Germany through people-to-people contacts and parliamentary cooperation.

       

The Speaker said terrorism and extremism are the biggest threats to peace and stability in the region as well as the entire world and it can be curbed through closer collaboration amongst the world community. He said Pakistan is rendering unprecedented sacrifices for world peace and security.

 

The German Chancellor said Germany also attaches great value to its relations with Pakistan and wants to further cement them.

 

She said Pakistan is an important country in the region and it is a strong desire of Germany to see it as a prosperous and stable country, which is also in the interest of the region and the world. 

   

Angela Merkel agreed on enhancing relations between parliamentarians of both the countries. She assured the Speaker National Assembly of Germany's continued support and cooperation in diverse fields.

 

PERVAIZ:

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid has said that Khyber Pakhtun Khwa government failed to deliver during the last three years. 

 

In a statement today, he said basic health facilities are not available to the people of the province.

 

The Information Minister said people of KPK are in search of the government while PTI leader Imran Khan is trying to spread anarchy in Punjab.

 

He said Imran Khan has failed to fulfill all the promises made with the people.

 

 

 

AMIR:

Prime Minister's Focal Person for relief activities in flood-hit areas of Chitral, Engr Amir Muqam says every effort would be made for speedy rehabilitation of flood affected people in Drosh area.

 

He was presiding over a meeting in Chitral today to review the ongoing relief and rehabilitation activities in the affected areas.

 

Amir Muqam said electricity supply would be restored to the flood-hit areas on priority basis.

 

 

RAHEEL:

Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif visited troops deployed on frontlines along the line of control in Kel and Bagh Sectors today.

 

The Army Chief greeted them Eid and spent time with them. He said high state of morale of troops, operational preparedness and vigil being maintained along the LoC is highly commendable.

 

While paying rich tributes to the supreme sacrifices of officers and men of Pakistan Army, General Raheel Sharif appreciated their spirit of valour, sacrifice and extreme commitment for defence of the motherland.

 

 

APHC:

In Occupied Kashmir, APHC Secretary General Shabbir Ahmad Shah has expressed satisfaction over Pakistan’s continued support to the Kashmir cause.

 

In a statement in Srinagar, he hailed the recent remarks of Advisor on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz that Pakistan would continue political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris’ freedom struggle.

 

 

OBAMA:

US President Barack Obama says the United States and its European allies will continue to work together on critical global challenges despite the decision by Britain to leave the European Union.

 

Speaking at the opening of two days meetings with European State leaders in Poland, he said the United States and the EU agree to improve security, share information and stem the flow of foreign fighters to prevent terror attacks.

 

 

MOSCOW:

Leaders of Russia, France and Germany have expressed concern over a recent uptick in fighting in eastern Ukraine.

 

Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke on phone to discuss eastern Ukraine.

 

 

SYRIA:

In  Syria, twenty two people were killed and severel others injured in an air strike in Idlib province today.

 

The incident took place on the last day a three-day ceasefire announced by the Syrian army.

 

 

 

EURO CUP:

The Final of Euro Cup 2016 will be played between France and Portugal at Stade de France on Sunday.

                  

Earlier, in the second semi-final,France defeated Germany by 2 goals to nil at Marseille.

Mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the country during next twenty-four hours.

 

However, rain/dust-thunderstorm with isolated heavy fall accompanied by windstorm is expected at scattered places in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Kohat, Bannu, D.I Khan divisions, FATA and Kashmir tonight and tomorrow morning.

 

Light rain/drizzle is expected in Sindh coast including Karachi.
