GCC says Houthi ‘coup’ unacceptable
The Council termed the Houthi takeover a threat to security and stability of the region
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has accused Houthi rebels of staging a coup in Yemen.
In a statement, the six-nation bloc of Gulf States said the coup is a dangerous escalation which we reject and is unacceptable.
The Council called the takeover a threat to the security and stability of the region and the interests of its people.
The Houthi rebels seized the presidential palace, dissolved the parliament and said they would set up a new interim government.
