In occupied Kashmir, a complete shutdown is to be observed on Monday and Wednesday to mark the anniversaries of martyrs Muhammad Afzal Guru and Maqbool Butt.

The call for the shutdown has been given by veteran Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Geelani.

Meanwhile, the occupying authorities have arrested the JKLF leaders Muhammad Yaseen Malik, Shaukat Bakhshi, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash along with other Hurriyet activists.

The authorities also placed Hurriyet leaders Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Naeem Ahmad Khan and Ayaz Akbar Butt under house arrest.

India had hanged Maqbool Butt in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on 11th February in 1984 and Afzal Guru in the same jail on 9th February 2013. Dead bodies of both the leaders remain buried in the premises of the jail.
