Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan says the government is paying due attention to the development and modernization of Radio Pakistan.
She was addressing the PBC employees at the Noor Jehan Auditorium of Radio Pakistan Lahore on Tuesday.
She said the government is set to provide all necessary facilities and latest equipment to Radio Pakistan, enabling it to compete with the international media.
She said Radio Pakistan is the only medium of transmission which is accessible to every nook and corner of the country and it keep all the nation abreast of the latest developments and policies of government.
Firdous Ashiq Awan paid rich tribute to the staff of AJK Radio Mirpur ensuring its uninterrupted transmission during the recent earthquake in Azad Kashmir despite huge damages to its building.
She said the Radio Mirpur was running its broadcast from a tent and kept disseminating the latest information about the earthquake via phone.
Firdous Ashiq Awan said development of Radio Pakistan is a part of the CPEC under which its transmission will be made accessible to the entire route of CPEC from China to Gwadar.
She said Radio Pakistan Gwadar will also be included in the outreach transmission of the China Radio International.
The Special Assistant said likewise, an MoU will also be signed with Turkey for the launch of joint venture between the radio originations of both the countries.
She said the government will look into the matter of the contractual staff and they would be provided justice as per the vision of Prime Minister.
