Peace would not return to country unless Taliban accept ceasefire: Afghan Govt
September 08, 2019

Afghanistan says no peace talks would yield desired results in the absence of a government delegation.

According to a statement by Afghan presidential palace, the obstacle in achieving peace in Afghanistan is the continued Taliban-led war and violence.

The statement further says that peace won't return to Afghanistan unless Taliban end Afghan killing, accept ceasefire and initiate direct talks with Afghan government.

The statement came after US President Donald Trump called off peace talks with the Taliban in the wake of a recent attack in Kabul claimed by Taliban that killed an American soldier and eleven other people.
