The United States has carried out fresh air strikes on positions of the Islamic State militants in Western and Northern parts of Iraq.
US officials said their planes subjected militant positions close to the strategic Haditha dam.
US aircraft also carried out scores of air strikes to support Iraqi and Kurdish forces to halt the advance of the militants in the North and West.
Meanwhile, Kurdish forces have retaken the strategically important Mount Zarta.
The governor of Anbar province, Ahmed al-Dulaimi was wounded in a clash with Islamic State militants near Haditha dam.
