All out efforts being made to provide relief to flood-hit people: PM
Nawaz Sharif visits flood hit areas of Sialkot and reviews losses caused by heavy rains and floods.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has asked the nation to take notice of elements staging sit-ins and creating hurdles in the path of national progress and prosperity.
Talking to people gathered during his visit to flood affected areas of Sialkot, he said the Chinese President’s visit carried much significance as he was bringing with him a mega package of prosperity for the people of Pakistan. It also include projects to end energy crisis within next three to four years and construction of highways and motorways.
The Prime Minister regretted that the visit was postponed, which also affected these development projects. However, he assured that the government will do whatever possible for the progress and prosperity of the country. The Prime Minister said those staging sit-ins should support the govt in providing relief to flood affected people.
He said the government is making all out efforts to provide relief to the flood affected people.
Earlier, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif visited the flood-hit areas of Sialkot today to have first-hand information about the damages and rescue and relief measures.
He went round the most affected areas of the city, including Khawaja Safdar road, Shahabpura, Sublime Chowk, Pasrur road and Commissioner road.
Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, elected representatives of the area and officials of district administration also accompanied the Prime Minister.
Briefing the Prime Minister about the rains and flood losses, Khawaja Asif and district administration officials said overflowing seasonal nullahs have wreaked havoc in the area.
