Talks to resolve Cyprus issue began in Swiss resort of Mont Pelerin on Monday.
The five-day talks between Greek Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades and his Turkish Cypriot counterpart Mustafa Akinci will concentrate on the question of territory as well as all other outstanding issues interdependently.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon who brokered the talks expressed hope that this meeting will pave way to reach a settlement within this year.
Cyprus is divided between Greece and Turkey since 1974.
