The leaders of China and Taiwan held a historic meeting for the first time in more than 60 years since the Chinese Civil War ended in 1949.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of a state visit by China President Xi to Singapore.

On the occasion, President Xi hoped the two sides across the Strait can work together and stick to the 1992 consensus.

He commented that no matter the difficulties, no power could separate us because we are kinsmen; blood is thicker than water.
