A meeting of the National Security Committee is underway in Islamabad with Prime Minister in the chair.

Prime Minister will represent Pakistan at two-day SCO summit in Kazakhstan beginning tomorrow.

In Iran, one guard was killed and several people were injured in terrorist attacks on Parliament and shrine of Imam Khomeini. 

US President has emphasized that a united Gulf Cooperation Council is critical to defeating terrorism and promoting regional stability.

MEETING

A meeting of the National Security Committee is underway in Islamabad.   

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is presiding.

Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan, Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Services Chiefs, DG ISI and National Security Advisor Nasser Janjua are attending the meeting.

PM-VISIT

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will participate in the two day Meeting of the Heads of State Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) at Astana in Kazakhstan beginning tomorrow.   

Heads of State Council is the highest decision-making body of SCO which meets annually.

Pakistan has observer status at SCO and will become its full member at Astana.  The decision, in principle, to give membership to Pakistan was taken by the SCO Heads of States meeting held at Ufa in Russia in 2015.    

On the sidelines of the SCO Summit, the Prime Minister will hold a number of bilateral meetings with other participating leaders.

Besides the SCO Summit, Kazakhstan is also hosting the International Expo 2017, in which more than 100 countries including Pakistan are participating. The Prime Minister along with other participating SCO Heads of States will also attend the inaugural ceremony of the Expo.                                     

SENATE

The Senate has resumed its session in Islamabad with Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani in the chair.

In his ruling, Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani said that the resignation tendered by the PML-N leader Nehal Hashmi on 31st stands withdrawn.

 The Chairman said that Nehal Hashmi had requested to withdraw the resignation in a meeting with him in the chamber.

He asked the Secretary Senate to convey the ruling to the Leader of the House and Parliamentary Leader of PML-N.

NA-KHURSHID

Members belonging to the opposition parties staged a walkout from the National Assembly to press for their demand for live broadcast of speech of the Opposition leader on PTV.

KP-BUDGET

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa budget for next fiscal year will be presented in provincial Assembly  on Wednesday .

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Minister Muzaffar Said advocate will present the budget at 2:00 pm.

SAIRA

Minister of State for National Health Saira Afzal Tarar says that no negligence will be tolerated during anti-polio campaign.

She was chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday to review arrangements of polio campaign.

She said Special teams are being constituted for the polio campaign in Islamabad Capital Territory.

Saira Afzal Tarar also asked to ensure the participation of women workers in the anti-polio campaign. 

The Minister of State said she will monitor anti-polio campaigns herself. 

GILLANI

In occupied Kashmir, APHC Chairman Syed Ali Gilani and other leaders have strongly condemned coercive raids by Indian National investigation Agency on the residences Hurriyet leaders and activists.

In a statement issued in Srinagar, Syed Ali Gilani said despite Indian state terrorism, the people of Kashmir would continue their struggle for right to self-determination.

He said that the raids are meant to drag and implicate Hurriyet leadership in fabricated cases.

IRAN- ATTACK

In Iran, one person died and twelve others were injured in two separate terrorist attacks on parliament building and mausoleum of Ayatullah Khomeini in Teheran on Wednesday.

Iran's state TV says four attackers were involved in the parliament shooting injuring eight people.

Another four terrorists attacked the shrine of Imam Khomeini killing a security guard and injuring four people. The guards killed one of the attackers and also arrested a woman from the shrine.

TRUMP

US President Donald Trump has emphasized that a united Gulf Cooperation Council is critical to defeating terrorism and promoting regional stability.

President Trump spoke with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz on telephone and discussed the critical goals of preventing the financing of terrorist organizations and eliminating the promotion of extremism by any nation in the region.              

Meanwhile, a US Administration official has denied media reports, which suggested that President Trump was taking sides despite his tweets in which he greeted Saudi Arabia and himself for a diplomatic coup against Qatar.     

On the other hand, a State Department spokesperson said that the US relations with Qatar are strong. She said the United States and its coalition are grateful to Qataris for their longstanding support of US military presence there. 

PALESTINE

Israeli forces have shot dead a Palestinian and injured seven others near the border fence in Gaza Strip.

Hospital sources said a 25 years old man was killed in Israeli troops' firing on people who were staging protest on the other side of fence erected at Gaza strip.

At least 248 Palestinian citizens have been killed since a wave of sporadic violence began in 2015 in Israel and the Palestinian territories.

ICC-ODI

In the ICC Champions Trophy, Pakistan will play their second match against South Africa at Birmingham on Wednesday.

The match will begin at 5:30 PM Pakistan Standard Time.
