Pakistan beat South Africa by 19 runs under the Duckworth–Lewis (D/L) method in a rain-affected match of the ICC Champions Trophy at Birmingham on Wednesday.

Batting first, South Africa scored 219 runs for the loss of eight wickets in allotted 50 overs.

DA Miller with 75 and De Kock with 33 runs remained main scorers.  For Pakistan, Hassan Ali took three, while Junaid Khan and Imad Wasim grabbed two wickets each.

In reply, Pakistan scored 119 runs 3 in 27 overs when play was stopped due to rain.

However, Pakistan was declared winner under D/L method.  Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman with 31 runs each remained the main scorers.  Hassan Ali was declared man of the match.  

The win reignites Pakistan's semi-final hopes, while South Africa may have to beat India to stay in the tournament.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has congratulated the Pakistani team over its victory against South Africa. 

Next match of the tournament will be played between India and Sri Lanka at the Oval on Thursday.
