Falling aid for education putting global goals at risk, UN warns
Total aid to education this year stands at $12b which is 4% less than 2010.
The United Nations has warned that the amount of aid allocated to education has been falling for six years in a row.
According to a UNESCO's Global Education Monitoring Report, total aid to education this year stands at twelve billion dollars which is four percent less than 2010.
It said the aid remains far short of what is needed to achieve Sustainable Development Goal- 4, putting the UN's commitments at risk.
While announcing the report, Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, called on donors not to shift their attention away from the poorest countries.
