Pakistan Army wins inter-regiment championship in Sri Lanka 

Pakistan Army won Inter-Regiment Volleyball Championship defeating Sri Lanka in Colombo on Tuesday. Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Major General Channa Goonetilleke was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed prizes among winning and runners-up teams.

Penguins move to brink of title with 3-1 win vs. Sharks

The Pittsburgh Penguins were confident that three straight games without a point for Evgeni Malkin and a rare off night by Matt Murray were an aberration more than a concern. Bounce-back performances from those two key players moved the Penguins to the brink of winning the Stanley Cup. Malkin scored one goal and assisted on another, Murray made 23 saves and the Penguins took a 3-1 series lead in the Stanley Cup Final by beating the San Jose Sharks 3-1 on Monday night.

Salli thunderbolt takes Cameroon to Africa Cup
 
An Edgar Salli thunderbolt gave Cameroon a 1- 0 victory in Mauritania Friday and a place at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Gabon. The diminutive 23-year-old midfielder from Swiss club Saint Gallen struck on the half hour mark at a packed 10 000 seat national stadium in the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott. Mauritania failed to clear a free kick and Salli pounced on the loose ball just outside the penalty aThe home team who began the match one point behind the visitors pressed continuously for an equaliser after half time.  

Ibrahimovic says can boost dismal popularity of France's Hollande
With an ego the size of his imposing physique, Zlatan Ibrahimovic says he could use his image to boost the dismal ratings of French President Francois Hollande - but then he might not choose to do so. Ibrahimovic made his comment on the eve of the opening of the Euro 2016 soccer championships in France when he will turn out for Sweden. Since the striker has now left PSG and may be joining another team outside France it was not clear how he thought it was within his power to help Hollande.

Records tumble in English county one-day game
The record books were rewritten twice in an astonishing run spree at Nottinghamshire's Trent Bridge ground on Monday which saw a record English one-day partnership and the most aggregate runs scored in a List A match. By the close in the Royal London One-Day Cup game between Notts and Northamptonshire, statisticians were checking to see if there had ever been a day like it anywhere in the world. The big hitting began from the start with Nottinghamshire's Riki Wessels and Michael Lumb sharing a record one-day partnership in England of 342 from 39.2 overs.
