UNESCO has declared the Old City of Hebron in the occupied West Bank an endangered world heritage site, sparking outrage from Israel.

Meeting in Kralow city of Polish city of Krakow today the UN's cultural arm voted twelve to three votes to give heritage status to the Old City area which is home to more than two hundred thousand Palestinians and a few hundred Israeli settlers.                  

The Palestinian foreign ministry has called the UNESCO decision despite US and Israeli opposition a success for Palestinian diplomacy.
