Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal says all provinces are being taken onboard in execution of projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.  

In an interview, he said nine sites for industrial zones have been decided with consensus in all the four provinces, Gilgit- Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and Islamabad.

Ahsan Iqbal said these zones will pave the way for future economic development of Pakistan.

The Minister said rail-based mass transit projects have been initiated in all the four provincial capitals.

He said an important road from Gilgit-Chitral to Chakdara will connect with Karakoram Highway and benefit the upper areas of the country.  Similarly, Mirpur-Muzaffarabad-Mansehra road will link the areas of Azad Kashmir with Karakoram Highway.

Nokundi-Mashkel-Punjgur will connect the far flung areas of Balochistan with the mainstream region.

Replying to a question, the Minister said the western route of CPEC became operational in November 2016, one month ahead of schedule.
