US President acknowledges Pakistanâ€™s role in regional peace
State Department says Pakistan and India are vital for the US strategic interests in the region
President Barack Obama says his country will continue to work with both Pakistan and India to promote strategic stability, combat terrorism, and advance regional economic integration in South and Central Asia.
Speaking on National Security Strategy at Congress in Washington, he acknowledged Pakistan's role in regional stability.
He also lauded Pakistan's peace efforts for establishing peace in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, the State Department spokesperson Marie Harf in a briefing said Pakistan and India are vital for the US strategic interests in the region.
To a question, he said the United States is working with NATO and other partners to train and assist the Afghan National Army.
