Six tribal agencies cleared of terrorists: Defence Minister
Britain, Germany and China have assured continued support to Pakistan in war on terror.
Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif says Pakistan's armed forces are carrying out a full scale military operation to flush out terrorists from the tribal areas.
Talking to the British Defence Minister Philipp Dunne on the side lines of the International Security Conference in Munich.
He said out of seven, six tribal agencies have so far been cleared of all traces of terrorists while the last tribal agency is under active military operation.
He hoped that the military would complete its operation soon.
The two Ministers also discussed matters to boost the bilateral defence relations.
The British Defence Minister appreciated Pakistan's efforts to make the country free of terrorism and assured all out support and cooperation to bring peace and stability in the region.
Meanwhile, Pakistan and Germany have expressed the resolve to boost their bilateral cooperation in the defence and security fields.
This commitment came at a meeting between Defence Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif and his German counterpart Dr Ursula Von der Leyen on the sidelines of International Security Conference in Munich.
The two Ministers exchanged views on bilateral relations with special reference to cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
Khawaja Asif briefed the German Minister about the on-going military operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan and other related issues.
He also briefed her about the Kashmir issue which needed to be resolved for a durable peace and security in the region.
The Defence Minister said Pakistan wants peaceful and good relations with its neighbouring countries including India. He said we want peaceful and negotiated solution of all outstanding issues with New Delhi.
The German Defence Minister assured her country's full support and cooperation in Pakistan's efforts for peaceful solution of regional issues and in the fight against terrorism.
Defence Minister Khwaja Asif also held a meeting with the Chinese State Councillor Dr Yang Jiechi in Munich.
They exchanged views on bilateral relations with special focus on cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
The Minister expressed the hope that Chinese leadership would play a significant role for peace and prosperity in the region.
Dr Yang Jiechi assured his country's full support for Pakistan's endeavours to resolve its socio-economic issues and bring peace and stability to the region.
