Russia calls for emergency meeting of UNSC to discuss U.S. strikes on Syria
Russia has called for UN Security Council's emergency meeting to discuss U.S. missile strikes on Syria.
The call was made by the foreign ministry in Moscow today.
Meanwhile, the Russian President Vladimir Putin has termed the strikes as aggression against a sovereign state and violation of the norms of international law.
Meanwhile, China has demanded an independent investigation under the United Nations.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said in Beijing today that China opposes the use of chemical weapons by any party under any circumstances.
Earlier, the US warships fired 59 cruise missiles on Syrian airbase in response to the chemical attack in Idlib province.
The Syrian military in a statement said at least nine people including four soldiers and four children were killed in the strikes.
Saudi Arabia, Turkey, France, Australia, Britain, EU and the Syrian opposition supported the US missile attacks.
