Fatemi emphasizes the need for continuous dialogue and communication between Pakistan and United States of America for promoting peace and security in the region. 

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi has emphasized the need for continuous dialogue and communication between Pakistan and United States of America for promoting peace and security in the region.

He was talking to a group of former senior US officials and experts on South Asia in Islamabad on Friday. 

He said such dialogue provides a good opportunity to bridge the gap in perceptions in Washington about Pakistan and its policies and the changing realities on the ground.  

The Advisor briefed the group on the important gains made by Pakistan in fighting terrorism, duly manifested in the improved security situation in Pakistan.   

He said the upbeat assessments on Pakistan's economic performance and prospects by international agencies and institutions are the reflection of sound economic policies pursued by the government.     

The delegation includes Ambassador Robin Raphel, Ambassador Richard Boucher, Ms. Tricia Bacon, Mr. David Smith and Mr. Michael Kugelman.   

The Group is visiting Pakistan to participate in the second round of US-Pakistan Bilateral Dialogue , organized by the Regional Peace Institute in Islamabad.
