PM-GB:

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said the incumbent government accords high priority to the development of Gilgit Baltistan.

He was talking to Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Hafiz Hafeez Ur Rehman in Islamabad today.

The Prime Minister said the ongoing development projects would not only generate economic activities in the region, but reduce unemployment and poverty as well.

He assured the Chief Minister that the federal government will extend all out support to uplift of the people of Gilgit Baltistan.

The Prime Minister stressed appropriate steps to attract foreign and local tourists and assured his full support to Gilgit-Baltistan on this count.

The Chief Minister apprised the Prime Minister about the upcoming elections of Gilgit Baltistan Council and discussed names of the candidates.

The Prime Minister stressed that all tickets should be given with consensus and on merit.

 

MAMNOON:

President Mamnoon Hussain says dispensation of justice is the basic component of our religion.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the office of Federal Insurance Ombudsman in Islamabad today.

He said Federal Ombudsman should play its role for the dispensation of justice to the people of the country.

 

KURRAM:

Twelve terrorists were killed and six others injured when security forces repulsed an attack on a post at Mangor Sar area of Kurram Agency this morning.

Nearly fifty terrorists from Afghanistan had attacked the post with heavy arms, which was repulsed.

The security forces have cordoned off the area and launched search operation against the militants.

 

BLAST:

A policeman was martyred and a pedestrian injured in an IED blast at Budhu Samar Bagh area in Peshawar today.

According to police, the IED was planted near a security checkpoint.

The injured was shifted to hospital. 

 

OPERATION:

At least four criminals were injured in exchange of fire with security forces in Kacha area of Rajanpur district today.

According to the Police, one thousand six hundred law enforcement personnel from seven districts and two hundred commandoes are taking part in the operation against terrorists and criminals in this region of southern Punjab.

The criminals have been surrounded from all sides.

 

CANDIDATE:

PTI candidate in NA-245 Amjadullah Khan has announced to withdraw from by-election, quit PTI and join MQM.

Addressing a news conference in Karachi, he criticised the PTI leadership and said the party leaders did not support him in his election campaign. He said even the party workers demanded money from him for serving as polling agents.

MQM leaders Aamir Khan and Kunwar Jamil, who were present on the occasion, welcomed Amjadullah Khan into the party.

 

ELECTIONS:

In Karachi, polling for by-election in NA-245 and PS-115 is continuing peacefully.

The turnout in the morning was low, but now people have started to arrive in big number to exercise their right to franchise. The main contest is between MQM and PPP.

 

 

DG-VISIT:

Director General Sindh Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar visited polling station number 70 of PS-115 in Islamia College in Karachi today.

He reviewed the law and order situation and security arrangements at the polling station.

It may be pointed out that almost all polling stations at PS-115 have been declared either sensitive or highly sensitive.

 

KASHMIR:

In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyet leaders have paid great homage to Kashmiri youth martyred by Indian troops during siege and search operations in Pulwama, Kupwara and Shopian districts.

In separate statements in Srinagar, the General Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, Muhammad Abdullah Tari and the Chairman of Kashmir Freedom Front, Syed Bashir Andrabi said the Kashmiri youth are sacrificing their lives for the great cause of freedom from Indian bondage.

Other Hurriyet leaders and organizations including Bilal Siddiqui and Muslim Deeni Mahaz also paid tributes to the martyrs.
