Analysts agree that Indian hegemonic designs are endangering regional peace and stability
August 07, 2020

Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Naeem Khalid Lodhi (Defense Analyst): Policies of Narendra Modi have put India into a difficult path. These policies have badly damaged Indian reputation as a democratic and secular state. Even the Indian society has started raising voices against Modi's controversial policies. India at the moment has conflicts with most of its neighboring countries, including Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Pakistan. The fascist government of Narendra Modi is not only threatening the regional peace and prosperity but India's own existence is also in danger. Kashmiris are full of hatred for present Indian government as it is involved in massive genocide in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The world has to take notice of prevailing situation after aggressive posturing of BJP government. It is also a fact that India cannot suppress the voice of civilized Indians criticizing the controversial policies of BJP government. The Indian policy to suppress these voices will not work for long and ultimately India will have to listen to the voices of its people.

Abdullah Gul (Defense Analyst): India switched its alliance with Soviet Union after its defeat in Afghanistan and started its strategic alliance with the United States. Pakistan is an important country in the region and its time-tested friendship with China is indigestible to India because China is emerging as a major economic power in the world. Pakistan on the other hand won the crucial war against terrorism that has been appreciated by the entire world. India is frustrated over the failure of its policies that have literally backfired. India is involved in border conflicts with all its neighboring countries and had to face humiliation at Laddakh region by the Chinese forces. The situation has totally changed now. All Indian efforts to isolate Pakistan in the region have failed and India itself is getting isolated. Indian hegemonic designs will remain its dreams only.

Ali Muhammad Khan (Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs): Allah Almighty has been very kind on our country and with his blessing, Pakistan managed to get rid of COVID-19 to a great extent. Many elements are making fun of the strategy of the present government regarding smart lockdowns in selective areas. But the entire world has appreciated the smart lockdown strategy of the incumbent government. There was a surge in COVID-19 cases after Eid-ul-Fitr but on Eid-ul-Azha the government ensured the effective implementation of the guidelines and SOPs, so we have not observed surge in the corona cases. The predictions of many experts and international organizations indicating a massive death ratio in Pakistan due to the pandemic proved wrong. The doctors and paramedical staff became the frontline soldiers and I must appreciate their devotion to eliminate COVID-19. The tourism industry was badly affected by COVID-19 pandemic. Now the government has announced to reopen the tourism industry which is good news for the people of northern and other hilly areas.

Dr. Shahid Hassan Siddiqui (Economist): The government has taken a wise and timely decision to ease the lockdown so that economic activities in the country could be resumed and people could earn their living. At the outset of COVID-19 outbreak in Pakistan, the government fought at two fronts. Firstly, it was making efforts to control the spread of COVID-19 pandemic and secondly to resume the business activities so that people might not die of hunger. Lifting of lockdown is a positive decision in the present situation. The life must come back to normalcy. The danger of COVID-19 is not completely over yet and it is the responsibility of every individual to follow the SOPs and guidelines issued by the government in every field of life. One can prevent his family from the risk of COVID-19 by complying with the SOPs, wearing masks, washing hands and maintaining social distancing.
