Interior Minister has urged religious scholars to come forward to promote sectarian harmony.

NA-INTERIOR

Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has said that a compensation package will be announced for the heirs of those killed in on Thursday's terror attack at Jhal Magsi in Balochistan.   

Speaking in the National Assembly on Friday, he strongly denounced the terror attack.

 

The Interior Minister said foreign funded elements are targeting soft targets in the country to create an environment of fear and panic amongst people.

He said Pakistan is committed to fighting against terrorism and Jhal Magsi like cowardly incidents cannot shake our resolve.

Ahsan Iqbal urged religious scholars to come forward to address the issue of hate speech and promotion of sectarian harmony.

Earlier, the House offered Fateha for those killed in on Thursday's terror attack at Jhal Magsi.

NA-QUESTIONS

Minister for National Food Security Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan told the house during question hour that surplus stock of wheat is available in the country and efforts are being made to export the commodity.

 

Minister for Water Resources Syed Javed Ali Shah said during forthcoming Rabi season, the country may face water shortage.

He said therefore it has been decided at the IRSA advisory committee that the shortages will be passed on to Punjab and Sindh provinces while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan shall remain exempted from any cut in water share.

Minister for National Health Services Saira Afzal Tarar has said the Prime Minister's National Health Programme is providing free of cost health services to the families living below poverty line.

She said that over 1.3 million families have been enrolled in the health insurance scheme in twenty four districts.

She said that 2.8 million more families will be enrolled by the end of current financial year.

NA MOTION:

The House on Friday adopted a motion electing members for the standing committees on Ministries of Narcotics Control, Postal Services, Privatization and Statistics.

The motion was moved by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad.

The house has now been adjourned to meet again on Monday at five pm.

PM BALOCHISTAN

PML (N) members of National Assembly from Balochistan called on Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in Islamabad on Friday and discussed matters pertaining to development projects in their constituencies.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in on Thursday's terror attack at Jhal Magsi.

MAMNOON

President Mamnoon Hussain says educational institutions play crucial role in human resource and overall economic development of the country.

He was talking to the Chancellor of Riphah International University Hasan Muhammad Khan and Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anis Ahmad in Islamabad on Friday.

The President said women constitute about half of the population and emphasis should be laid on both their secondary and higher education.

He appreciated the establishment of Women Institute of Science and Humanities at Riphah International University.   

The President expressed satisfaction over the standard of higher education improved during the last few years in the country.

MARRIYUM

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb says the government is determined to accomplish the challenging task of revival of sports, films and national heritage in the country.     

She was speaking at 20th International Sports Press Association Asia's extraordinary Congress in Islamabad on Friday.     

The Minister of State said security situation has considerably improved in Pakistan as a result of an all-encompassing campaign launched by the government to eliminate the menace of terrorism.

She said it is the result of this campaign that international sports events and conferences are being held in Pakistan.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said these events are participated by players and delegates from many countries and thereby help promote Pakistan's soft image.

ROAD

The Federal government is constructing thirty-two-kilometer-long northern bypass in Peshawar at a cost of twenty-one billion rupees.

According to sources of the National Highway Authority, the project will be completed by the end of this year.

The four lane dual carriageway will link Jamrud area of Khyber Agency with Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway near Peshawar Interchange. 

The sources said the bypass will help boost trade and business activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA.                                                    

SHAHBAZ

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif says modern drug testing labs will be set up soon in Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad and Bahawalpur.

He was chairing a high level meeting in Lahore on Friday, regarding the ongoing program of Drug Testing Labs system in the province.

The Chief Minister said a state of the art Drug Testing Lab is already working in Lahore.

 

He said Quality Management System has been setup for checking drug samples and to eliminate fake and non-standard medicines. He said master trainers and staff for the drug testing are getting training from the UK.

Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated a hundred bed Tehsil Headquarter Hospital, Manawan in Lahore on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said all possible medical care facilities have been provided at the hospital.

 MURAD:

Sindh Cabinet has approved Sindh Occupational Safety and Health Bill 2017, so that incidents like Baldia Factory fire could be stopped. 

The approval was given at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in Karachi on Friday.

 The Chief Minister informed on the occasion that it was an old bill prepared in 2015 but the labour department failed to present it for approval of the cabinet meeting.

 The proposed bill will be now presented in the provincial assembly.

SIRAJ

Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Siraj ul Haq says the government should make the electoral system transparent so that no one can raise finger on it.

He was talking to media along with senior PTI leader, Shah Mahmood Qureshi after a meeting at Mansura in Lahore on Friday.

During the meeting, overall political situation was discussed.

RANGERS-GANG:

Sindh Rangers arrested a gang of fraudsters in a raid at Gulistan-e-Johar area of Karachi on Friday and recovered weapons, narcotics and fake property documents from its possession.

According to Rangers spokesperson, the gang members committed crimes pretending to be officials of law enforcement agencies.                  

TERRORIST

A terrorist was arrested in Barikot area of Swat on Friday.

He was wanted to police in terrorist activities including attacks on government schools in 2008.

INDIA

In India, all the seven military personnel on board were killed when an Indian Air Force helicopter crashed in Arunachal Pradesh this morning. 

The Mi-17 V5 chopper was on an "air maintenance mission" when it crashed.

RUSSIA STRIKE

In Syria fourteen civilian have been killed in Russian air strikes near Mayadeen town.

They were crossing the Euphrates river near the militants-held town of Mayadeen.

UN

The UN Security Council has unanimously approved a resolution to expand its security mission in Colombia.

It will help verify a bilateral cease-fire between the government and the Marxist ELN guerrillas.

ODI SQUAD

Pakistan Cricket Board has announced fourteen member squad for the upcoming five one day internationals series against Sri Lanka.

The series will be played  from 13th of this month in Dubai.

Sarfraz Ahmad will lead the squad.

According to PCB spokesperson, other squad members include; Fakhar Zaman, Muhammad Hafeez, Baber Azam, Imad Waseem , Shadab khan, Faheem Ashraf, Hassan Ali, Muhammad Amir, Roman Raees, Junaid Khan, Haris Sohail, Imam ul Haq and Shoaib Malik.
