Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said the economy of the country is progressing rapidly due to the prudent policies and reforms introduced by the government.                  

Talking to newsmen in Lahore, he said China-Pak Economic Corridor will be a game changer in the region.         

The Minister said the foreign exchange reserves of Pakistan have reached a record high.

He said Pakistan had surplus electricity in 1999 and the then PML-N government was negotiating with the neighboring countries to export energy.                   

Meanwhile, addressing a book launching ceremony, he said political stability and national unity are key to development of the country. He said continuation of political system is necessary for achieving goals in social and economic sectors.        

Referring to progress made by Malaysia, China, Singapore and Turkey, he said these countries made progress because of stable political system.
