Cabinet Committee on Energy in its meeting in Islamabad accorded in-principle approval for establishment of a new LNG based 1,200 MW capacity power plant. The Prime Minister emphasized that pro-active planning should be exercised regarding power supply and demand. He directed the Ministry of Water and Power to undertake power supply and demand analysis till the year 2023.

Additional electricity to be added to national grid by early 2018: Dar

Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar says additional electricity will be added to the national grid by early next year on completion of ongoing power projects. Presiding over a high level meeting in Islamabad, he said it will significantly reduce load-shedding in the country. In addition to power generation, necessary projects are also being undertaken for electricity transmission and distribution. He directed the concerned officials to ensure completion of the ongoing power projects according to the given timelines. 

CPEC, stable macroeconomic environment to spur private investment in Pakistan – World Bank

The World Bank says successful completion of an IMF-supported program has helped achieve macroeconomic stability in the country. According to the World Bank's June 2017 Global Economic Prospects, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and a stable macroeconomic environment will give a spur to private investment in Pakistan. It said favorable weather and increased cotton prices are supporting agriculture produce. The report says Pakistan's growth is expected to be 5.7 percent s during the current financial year.

ADB presents plan to support Pakistan railway's strategic plan 2025

Asian Development Bank (ADB) has presented short, mid and long term plan to support Pakistan Railway's Strategic Plan 2025. It was presented by a two-member delegation of the Bank during its meeting with Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Railways Muhammad Javed Anwar in Lahore. Speaking on the occasion, the Railways Chief Executive Officer said the Strategic Plan 2025 will lay foundations of a modern and developed Pakistan Railways.
