Cabinet Committee on Energy in its meeting in Islamabad accorded in-principle approval for establishment of a new LNG based 1,200 MW capacity power plant. Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif chaired the meeting. The Prime Minister emphasized that pro-active planning should be exercised regarding power supply and demand. 

Corps commanders Conference reiterates Pakistan Army's resolve to defend motherland against all threats

Corps Commanders' Conference was held at GHQ in Rawalpindi with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa in the chair.  The forum reviewed regional security environment in the backdrop of recent terrorist incidents in Afghanistan and vowed to continue its support and cooperation with Afghanistan in fight against terrorism and militancy. It took exception to the unwarranted accusations and threats against Pakistan in the aftermath of Kabul blast. The forum concluded that instead of blaming Pakistan, Afghanistan needs to look inward and identify the real issues.

Pakistan, Russia discuss measures to enhance military cooperation- Alexey Yurievich Dedov calls on General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi

Russian Ambassador Alexey Yurievich Dedov called on Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi. Matters related to regional security and enhanced military cooperation particularly in defence and training came under the discussion during the meeting. Pakistan and Finland have agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in diverse fields, including economy, trade, energy, agriculture and industry. This understanding was reached during the third round of bilateral political consultations in Helsinki.  The two sides also exchanged views on the peace and security environments in their respective regions.

 CAA to bring back Pakistani pilgrims stranded in Qatar

Civil Aviation Authority has decided to bring back Pakistani Umra pilgrims stranded in Qatar through Qatar and other airlines. Spokesman of CAA has said passengers will be taken to their destinations through adjustment with other airlines. Meanwhile, in the wake of suspension of operations by Qatar Airways to Saudi Arabia, about four hundred Pakistani passengers stranded at Doha Airport have been facilitated for their smooth journey to their respective destinations.

Effective steps being taken to boost exports: Dastgir

Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir has said that prudent economic policies of the government have put the country on the path of development and effective steps are being taken to boost the exports. In an interview with PTV on Tuesday, he expressed the hope that under the Prime Minister Package of 180 billion rupees as duty drawback to exporters, the country will witness further improvement in the export sector.
