The Lahore Arts Council organized a classical music programme at the Al-Hamra Art Centre in Lahore last night in which four classical singers performed.
On this occasion, mystic poetry and songs were sung by Ustad Muhammad Akhtar Khan, Ghulam Abbas Khan and Zaman brothers, Ustad Badar-uz-Zaman and Ustad Qamar-uz-Zaman.
A salient feature of the programme was the ragashairy and khampa-wati raag, which were specially performed by Ustad Muhammad Akhtar Khan.
The Provincial Parliamentary Sectary of Information and Culture, Rana Muhammad Arshad, who was a chief guest on the occasion, highly appreciated the performance of the classical artists.
The objective of this programme was to support and encourage the classical music, which is facing the threat of shaking, fading and disappearance from the country as well as from the sub-continent.
