Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN designate Dr Maliha Lodhi called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad today.

Talking to her, the Prime Minister said it is important to remove misperceptions about Pakistan on a range of issues.

He said that being the 70th anniversary year of the founding of the United Nations makes it important that Pakistan's voice is heard in the many events taking place this year.

Dr Lodhi thanked the government for reposing confidence in her for this important assignment and assured the Prime Minister that she would try her best to live up to the challenge of protecting Pakistan's interest and projecting country's principled stand on important matters.
