Dr. Rasool Baksh Raees (IR Expert): Pakistan is among the founders of OIC which was established in 1974 in Lahore and was supposed to protect the fundamental rights of Muslims across the world. But it is unfortunate that some key members that are oil producing countries have their commercial interests in India. It is the time that the Muslim countries must stand united and take a strong position on Kashmir issue and force India to stop human rights violations there and ensure the implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir. Indian government has also introduced some discriminatory policies against minorities specifically targeting the Muslims in India. The Indian Supreme Court is under the influence of Hindu extremists and has given a verdict to construct temple in place of historic Babri mosque. The world must have to think beyond their trade interests and take strict notice of Indian aggressive policies otherwise regional peace and stability will be at badly damaged.
Ali Muhammad Khan (Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs): Pakistan is always ready to negotiate with India on Kashmir issue anywhere and at any time but it is India that always shies away from negotiation and dialogue. Pakistan has launched new political map in order to make the world realize that it is our reaction to the draconian act in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir on 5th August last year. The extremist BJP is adopting the policies that were never adopted in the history. The immediate requirement from India is to reverse its illegal acts in IIOJ&K. The present Indian government is trying to change the demography of IIOJ&K by settling Indian Hindus there which is a clear violation of UN resolutions. India made commitment at United Nations forum to hold plebiscite in Kashmir valley so that Kashmiris can decide for their fate. But the present Indian government is crossing all limits and using pressure tactics through illegal acts in IIOJ&K to deprive the Kashmiris of their fundamental right of self-determination.
Shamim Shawl (Hurriyet Leader): India has never respected the bilateral agreements. Indian policies have increased the hatred among the people. Even Indian people have been criticizing their own government for human rights violations in IIOJ&K. Indian forces have failed to suppress the freedom struggle of Kashmiris. The Kashmiri youth are being arrested and brutally tortured. The Kashmiris have been sacrificing their lives for freedom. India is unable to justify its claim to bring back the life in IIOJ&K to normalcy within few months but over the last one year the situation in the valley has become worst. The unarmed movement of Kashmiris against equipped Indian forces will continue. The message has been conveyed to India that any of its illegal moves in IIOJ&K will not succeed. United Nations must send its observer group to monitor the situation on both sides of the line of control to sort out the facts and ground realities.
Brig (Retd) Harris Nawaz (Defense Analyst): Kashmir issue is being discussed at UNSC forum for the third time in last few months which is a diplomatic success of Pakistan. Because of the controversial policies of Narendra Modi, the Kashmir issue has been internationalized. Moreover, the Indian forces faced humiliation at the hands of Chinese forces in Laddakh. The economy of India is declining day by day. New Delhi has tensions with all its neighboring countries including Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan which means India is going to be isolated. At this time, Pakistan must double its efforts at diplomatic level to expose cruel Indian face and policies in front of the world. The world must also force India to comply with international norms and review its aggressive policies.
Brig (Retd) Tipu Sultan (Defense Analyst): It is a known fact that India has been forced to go on back foot since Prime Minister Imran Khan came into power. The foreign policy has been more animated than ever before. The regional situation has now changed and Pakistan is in a strong position as its narrative on Kashmir issue has been acknowledged by the civilized world. India is neither a secular nor a democratic state. If India claims itself as a democratic state then it must give the right of plebiscite to Kashmiris according to UN resolutions. The statement of Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi is very significant. Foreign Minister urged OIC to stop dilly-dallying on the convening of a meeting on Kashmir issue in order to support the oppressed Kashmiris.
