Many terrorist groups based in the region, including in Afghanistan have been responsible for extreme acts of violence against Pakistani people: FO

Pakistan has said that it is concerned about the threat posed by terrorism and extremism to South Asian region. In response to a question regarding the BRICS' Leaders' summits document, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said many terrorist groups based in the region, including in Afghanistan, such as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and its associates like Jamaat-ul-Ansar had been responsible for extreme acts of violence against Pakistan.

Moreover, National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence has strongly condemned the hostile and threatening statement of US President Donald Trump and US Commander in Afghanistan General John Nicholson against Pakistan.

Analysts live on Phone:

Dr. Rasheed Ahmed Khan (IR Expert):

The world has been appreciating the role and sacrifices of Pakistan against terrorism. India has always tried to declare Pakistan a terrorist state on all forums but remained failed in its mission because China has always opposed its opinions. Pakistan itself is a victim of terrorism and is in state of war all alone against terrorism in order to wipe it out from the country. NATO forces are unable to defeat terrorism in Afghanistan despite of having modern technology arms and ammunition. Afghan people will never accept the presence of NATO forces in their country.

Abdullah Gul (Defense Analyst):

Pakistan has rightly rejected the declaration of BRICS summit as Pakistan has no safe havens for terrorists. Pakistan has taken action against all groups on its soil without any discrimination. The policies of Donald Trump in South Asian region may lead to the instability. It is also a fact that most of the area of Afghanistan is not under the government’s control and even the presence of forces of over 48 countries could not defeat terrorism in Afghanistan. Now these elements are blaming Pakistan in order to hide their frustrations and failure of policies. Pakistan has already done a lot to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country.
