In Iraq , the top aide of the chief of Islamic State Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, has been killed in air strikes in northern part of the country.

According to an Iraqi army officer, warplanes carried out a security operation in Nineveh province, resulting in the killing of Abu Hajr al-Suri.

The area where the strikes were carried out, located between Mosul and Tal Afar, is outside government control, posing a major challenge to verifying Suri's death.

In an other incident, at least eleven people were killed and thirty two wounded when a car bomb exploded in Kadhimiyah area in the north of Baghdad.
