Envoys-designate to UK, Kuwait call on President
President asks high commissioner-designate to the UK to achieve the bilateral trade target of Â£3 billion by 2015.
Pakistan’s High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom Syed Ibne Abbas and Ambassador-designate to Kuwait Muhammad Aslam Khan called on President Mamnoon Hussain in Islamabad on Friday and discussed matters pertaining to their new diplomatic assignments.
The president urged them to focus on further strengthening Pakistan’s close and friendly ties with the United Kingdom and Kuwait with particular focus on enhancing trade and economic ties.
Speaking to Ibne Abbas, the president expressed satisfaction on revised Pak-UK roadmap for cooperation in the fields of culture, education, trade, investment, and security and urged the high commissioner-designate to work towards achieving the bilateral trade target of £3 billion by 2015.
Mamnoon Hussain advised the appointed ambassador to Kuwait Muhammad Aslam Khan for making concerted efforts to encourage entrepreneurs and Kuwaiti investors to invest in Pakistan and avail the investment and business friendly initiatives and packages of the government. The president emphasised persuading the Kuwait Fund to continue its assistance in development projects in Pakistan.
