Quetta Gladiators release Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Gul

Quetta Gladiators have decided to retain skipper Sarfraz Ahmed and former England batsman Kevin Pietersen for the third edition of Pakistan Super League. The franchise, which was the runner-up in both the previous editions of the tournament, is also retaining South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw, all-rounders Mohammad Nawaz, Anwar Ali and Hassan Khan, fast bowler Mir Hamza and batsman Asad Shafiq. Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Gul, Tymal Mills, Zulfiqar Babar are to be released by the franchise.

Chief Minister KP unveiling National Youth Carnival trophy

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak on Thursday unveiled the trophy of the National Youth Carnival Mega Challenge-2017 here at the newly renovated Nishtar Hall. Speaking on this occasion soon after unveiling the trophy of the National Youth Carnival Mega Challenge-2017, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak termed the it the baggiest event of the youth carrying a prize money of Rs 5 million. He said this time they have widen up the pool of the National Youth Carnival by involving maximum number students of the colleges, public and private sectors Universities of the KP and rest of the country.

Nishan-i-Haider hockey tournament begins

One match was decided in Nishan-i-Haider 9-A Side Hockey tournament which started on Wednesday night at the Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium in Karachi. In the opening match, Major Shabbir Sharif 9ers defeated Rashid Minhas 9ers in the penalty shoot out (4-2) as well as the regular match (3-2) in floodlights thus garnering full four points, said the information made available here on Thursday by the Pakistan Hockey Federation.
