Commercial flights between Pakistan and Afghanistan begin
The transportation by air has been allowed to airlift vehicles meant for Afghan National Security Forces.
First commercial flight to Afghanistan with 15 military vehicles onboard took off from Karachi for Bagram Air Base today (Monday).
According to Defense Ministry, the arrangement has been made to facilitate rapid delivery of vital military cargo to brotherly country Afghanistan to enhance its security and stability.
The transportation by air has been allowed to airlift vehicles meant for Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) as special gesture by the government of Pakistan. The vehicles are of vital importance and urgently required by Afghan forces.
The arrangement is part of Pak-US Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in July, 2012 which deals with use of Pakistan Lines of Communications to and from Afghanistan. The operation will be treated as commercial and continue for next couple of weeks.
