PM-VISIT

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will embark on a two-day visit to Tajikistan on Wednesday for talks with Tajik leadership on strengthening cooperation in diverse fields.

       

Leaders of the two countries would also exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

       

A Joint Declaration entitled "Road towards strategic partnership for regional solidarity" will be signed during the visit.

      

A meeting of Joint Business Council will also be held to consider steps to enhance bilateral trade and commercial ties.

      

Tajikistan is also hosting a Quadrilateral Summit of CASA-1000 member states of Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan and Tajikistan. CASA-1000 project aims at developing energy corridor and land connectivity between Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

     

A Trilateral Summit between Pakistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan is also scheduled to be held on the sidelines of the Prime Minister's visit to Tajikistan.

 

NAWAZ

Meanwhile, talking to Chairman of Huaneng Group Cao Peixi in Islamabad, the Prime Minister said Pakistan’s economic outlook has improved significantly over the last four years.

 

He said economic growth was well above 5 percent while the foreign exchange reserves have touched 24 billion dollars mark, the highest in the country’s history.

 

The Prime Minister said Pakistan’s up-gradation to Emerging Market by Morgan Stanley Capital International reflects the growing recognition of Pakistan’s economic progress and potential.

 

DAR-ADB  

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar says successful implementation of development projects will ensure higher, sustainable and inclusive economic growth in Pakistan.

 

He was talking to Executive Director Asian Development Bank Sami Saeed in Islamabad.

 

The Minister appreciated support of ADB for development projects in Pakistan.

 

He said Pakistan is keen to continue working with ADB and other development partners to implement development projects in the country.

 

KHAQAN

Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has invited Chinese oil and gas companies to explore multiple investment opportunities, in Pakistan.

 

Talking to a Chinese delegation led by Administrator, National Energy Administration Nur Bekri in Islamabad, he said Chinese companies can invest in oil and gas exploration and production, setting up a large deep conversion mid-country oil refinery, laying gas and oil pipelines, oil storages facilities, and supply of petroleum products.

 

Both sides also agreed to establish Oil and Gas Sub-Group under the Energy Working Group to facilitate the identified and future oil and gas sector projects.

KIRMANI

Special Assistant to Prime Minister Syed Asif Kirmani says PTI chief Imran Khan and his cronies were confusing people by distorting facts about Panama papers case to serve their vested interests.

 

Talking to media in Islamabad, he expressed reservations over reports of finalizing JIT report without recording statement of Qatar prince. He said Qatar Prince is the main defence witness of Sharif family’s case and his statement is must for meeting requirements of justice.

 

JIT

Marriyum Nawaz, the daughter of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, will on Wednesday appear before the Joint Investigation Team, probing Panama Papers case, to record her statement.  

  

Meanwhile, the JIT has also summoned Chairman NAB Qamar Zaman Chaudhry to record his statement on Wednesday.

  

The Joint Investigation Team has submitted its three periodic reports to the Supreme Court and will submit its final report to the apex court on the tenth of this month.

YOUSUF

Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf has stressed the need for promotion of sectarian harmony and brotherhood to establish a peaceful society and foil enemy's designs.

 

In an interview with PTV, he urged media to play a constructive role in promoting religious harmony to make the country a cradle of peace and love.

 

COMMITTEE

The special meeting of Apex Committee Sindh was held in Karachi which reviewed law and order in the province, ongoing operation in Karachi and progress in operation Raddul Fasaad.

 

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah,  Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, and other civil and military officials attended the meeting. 

 

The meeting also reviewed progress of National Action Plan and escape of high profile terrorists from central jail Karachi.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said implementation of laws is imperative for establishing writ of the state.

Martyrdom day of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed is being observed on Wednesday.

 

KASHMIR

In Occupied Kashmir, Joint Resistance Leadership has issued a protest calendar in connection with the first martyrdom anniversary of liberation leader, Burhan Wani.

 

In a joint statement, Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik said complete strike will be observed on Saturday and next Thursday to pay tributes to Burhan Wani and martyrs.

 

Burhan Wani was martyred last year on 8th July by Indian forces in a fake encounter which triggered massive uprising in the territory.

 

QATAR

The foreign ministers of Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain will meet in Cairo on Wednesday to discuss Qatar's response to their demands.

 

Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir who has received Qatar's response to the 13 demands says most of the demands included in the list of demands were already mentioned in the 2014 agreement.

 

SYRIA-TALKS

Russia has announced that it will deploy military troops to de-escalation zones in Syria within two weeks after finalizing the agreement with Turkey and Iran.

 

Russian negotiator Alexander Lavrentyev made the announcement during talks in the Kazakh capital Astana.

 

He said the final document pertaining to the de-escalation zones is expected to be signed on Wednesday.

 

In May, Russia, Iran and Turkey agreed to establish four de-escalation zones in Syria.

 

US-KOREA

The United States has requested an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Wednesday to discuss North Korea's claim of successfully testing its first intercontinental ballistic missile.

                                       

Meanwhile, European Union has warned to consider additional sanctions against Pyongyang.

 

EU-JAPAN

The European Union and Japan will sign a landmark agreement in Tokyo tomorrow on a massive trade deal after four years of tough negotiations.

 

ICC

Pakistan will take on Australia in the ICC Women's World Cup at Leicester on Wednesday.

 

In other matches of the day, India will play against Sri Lanka at Derby and England will face South Africa at Bristol.

 

TEST

The first cricket test of the four match series between England and South Africa will be played at Lord's, London tomorrow.

Rain-thundershowers with isolated heavy falls and gusty winds are expected at scattered places of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar, Kohat divisions, FATA, Upper Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the next twelve hours.

 

However, rain-thundershowers is also expected at a few places of Sahiwal and Bahawalpur divisions. Hot and humid weather is expected elsewhere in the country.
