Infrastructure for SEZs being developed: PM

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says government is focusing on providing relief to the domestic and industrial power consumers.

He expressed these views while chairing a meeting of the federal cabinet in Islamabad.

The Prime Minister informed the Cabinet that several power projects are still in the implementation stage that would further enhance the generation capacity. 

The Cabinet approved a proposal for the regulations of arms licenses for prohibited (automatic) weapons and lifting of ban on non-prohibited bore.

The Cabinet also accorded approval to establishment of one bench of the Customs Appellate Tribunal at Quetta.

The Cabinet offered prayers for the martyrs of North Waziristan explosion.

Earlier, talking to a delegation of industrialists led by Chairman FPCCI Mian Anjum Nisar, the Prime Minister said that industrial consumers would be provided with uninterrupted gas and power supply.               

He said that the government is well aware of  the issues faced by industrialists and working diligently on tax reforms.           

During the meeting, various proposals regarding the enhancement of exports, incentives for industrial zones, tax reforms, infrastructure development and measures for reducing trade deficit came under discussion.               

The Prime Minister said that infrastructure development for special economic zones was being undertaken on priority basis.           

The business community appreciated the government for thorough supply of electricity and gas to industries and restoring law and order in the country that has resulted in improved investors' confidence.
