Amir Khan announces to launch super boxing league in Pakistan
International Boxer Amir Khan has announced to launch Super Boxing League in Pakistan to promote boxing and provide exposure to local talent. Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he says professional boxing league is to be held under the World Boxing Council. Eight teams will participate in the League. Women can also participate in the competitions. Pakistan has great talent in boxing and the event will prove beneficial for country’s boxers.
ITF allocates $15,000 for Pakistan tennis federation for tournaments
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has allocated fifteen thousand dollars for Pakistan Tennis Federation for tournaments to be hosted in November and December this year. According to Pakistan Tennis Federation, foreign players will participate in these events and more courts will also be prepared for international tournaments.
India whitewash Sri Lanka in five match ODI series
India has whitewashed Sri Lanka in the five match one day international series, beating the host by six wickets in the last match at Colombo on Sunday night. Bating first, Sri Lanka scored 238 runs for the loss of all wickets in 49.4 overs. In reply, India achieved the target in 46.3 overs for the loss of four wickets.
Junior athletics championship to begin in October
The National Junior Athletics Championship will begin at Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabadinthe last week of October. President Athletics Federation of Pakistan, Muhammad Akram Sahi, says a total of fifteen teams from all over the country will be invited to participate in the event. The teams include Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force, WAPDA, Pakistan Railways, Police, Higher Education Commission, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, FATA, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Venus Williams Qualifies for Semi-Finals of US Open
In New York, Venus William won US Open quarter-finals by defeating Spanish Carla Suarez Navarro 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. Sharapova ousted at US Open while Venus, Kvitova advance. Maria Sharapova´s Grand Slam return after a 15-month doping ban ended Sunday with a fourth-round defeat at the US Open but the former world number one considered it a major step in her comeback.
