Over three hundred eighty-six megawatt of electricity will be added in national grid after completion of Balloki Combined Cycle Power Plant.

Balloki Combined Cycle Power Plant will start adding 386.5 MW of electricity to the national grid by August next year in the first phase.   


According to official sources, the under-construction 1223 MW power plant having latest and environment friendly gas turbine technology will start operating at full capacity in the beginning of 2018.


The plant could be operated both on gas and diesel, however Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas would be its prime fuel. 


Balloki Power project which is a joint venture of two companies from China and Pakistan is an excellent example of time-tested Pakistan-China friendship.



Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif says provincial government has taken comprehensive measures to improve education, health, clean drinking water and skill development sectors. 


He was chairing a high level meeting in Lahore on Sunday, which was also attended by a delegation of World Bank headed by Country Director Pathamuthu Illangovan.


The Chief Minister said billions of rupees are being spent to end poverty and improvement in social sectors.


The Chief Minister said the World Bank is an important partner of Provincial Government regarding improvement in the social sectors.


Shahbaz Sharif said nutrition program is of great importance to fulfill the nutrition needs of children. He directed to review measure to extend this program and present a comprehensive plan for its extension.


Country Director of World Bank lauded billions of rupees reform program of Punjab government and said the government was heading in the right direction for improvement in various sectors.



Sindh Government has started various projects including Greater Karachi Bulk Water Supply Scheme K-IV to overcome shortage of water in the city.  


Official sources told Radio Pakistan correspondent Muhammad Waqas that over fifteen billion rupees have been allocated for 118.5 kilometer long K-IV phase-I project to be completed within two years.


He said two-hundred sixty Million Gallon of water will be provided to the citizens daily after completion of the project.   



One security personnel was martyred and another injured in a mine blast in Chamar Kand area of Mohmand Agency on Sunday.



In occupied Kashmir, over one hundred people were injured in firing of pellets and bullets by Indian troops on protesters in Shopian, on Sunday morning.


According to Kashmir Media Service, the personnel of Indian police and paramilitary forces used brute force on participants of a pro-freedom rally in Penjoora village.


Forces used heavy tear smoke shells and indiscriminate pellets on the protesters.


On the other hand, several persons were injured in Islamabad district, after Indian armed forces used brute force on an anti-India and pro-freedom rally in Fatapora Larkipora.



Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said U.S and Turkey must adopt collective approach against terrorism.


He was talking to US president Barack Obama in Hangzhou on the sidelines of G-20 summit.


Erdogan said there should be no distinction between "good terrorists" and bad ones.


On the occasion, US President assured Recep Tayyip Erdogan that his country will work to ensure those responsible for a failed coup are brought to justice.



In Afghanistan, at least fifty people were killed and twenty eight others injured when a passenger bus struck with a fuel tanker in the province of Zabul on Sunday.


According to report, the collision sparked an inferno and many of the victims, including women and children were burned.


The passenger bus was on its way from Kandahar to Kabul when it collided with a fuel tanker. 



The last One Day International of 5-match series between Pakistan and England will be played at Cardiff on Sunday.


The match will be started 02.30 pm.


England lead the series 4-nil.
