A memorandum of understanding in this regard was signed between Punjab government and China's "Huaneng Shandong Power Generation Company" in Lahore.

Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said economic cooperation between Pakistan and China is touching new heights.

Under another MoU, China's Shandong Ruyi Group will establish technical training institute in Sahiwal.



Hussain Nawaz is recording his statement before the Joint Investigation Team probing Panama papers case. 

It is the sixth time that Hussain Nawaz has appeared before the JIT.

Marriyum Nawaz is to appear before the JIT tomorrow.

The Joint Investigation Team has already submitted three periodic reports to the Supreme Court in this regard and it will submit its final report on tenth of this month. 



Talking to the media persons outside the federal judicial academy, PML (N) leader Asif Kirmani said their opponents are trying to mislead the nation on matters pertaining to the case.

He said the joint investigation team must fulfill demands of justice.



A four member bench of Election Commission headed by Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan heard the contempt of court case against PTI Chairman Imran Khan in Islamabad today.

The PTI chairman again failed to submit his reply in the case and his counsel sought more time from the Election Commission for the purpose.

The Chief Election Commissioner while expressing his annoyance said the decision in this regard will be announced on next hearing on 10th of this month.

Later talking to the media persons, PML (N) leader Daniyal Aziz said Imran Khan will have to submit his reply in the case despite repeated attempts of evasion.



Meanwhile, founding member of PTI Akbar S. Babar said Imran Khan is running away from accountability but cases before the Supreme Court and the Election Commission would expose him fully.

He said there is no difference in tax evasion and misuse of donations of people.

Akbar S. Babar described recent intra-party elections of PTI as a farce as less than 10  per cent votes were cast.



In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops have martyred another youth in Pulwama district today.

The troops shot dead the youth during continued crackdown  in Bahmnoo area of the district.

The troops had martyred two youth, Jehangir Khanday and Kifayat Ahmad, in the same area, yesterday.

The troops have also damaged several residential buildings in the area so far during the ongoing operation.



Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has called upon the Iranian Judiciary to pursue and adopt official position on international issues like Kashmir and Myanmar.

Ayatollah Khamenei made these remarks at a meeting with high ranking members of Iran’s judiciary, including Chief Justice, Sadeq Amoli Larijani.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the Judiciary should intervene from a legal position in such issues as sanctions, US confiscations and terrorism or the Muslims of Myanmar and Kashmir.



Turkey and Britain have agreed to reach a fair, lasting and comprehensive deal on Cyprus situation.

Speaking over phone, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and British Prime Minister Theresa May also discussed bilateral ties and regional issues.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has received proposals from Turkish and Greek Cypriot sides, and the three guarantor countries Turkey, Greece and the United Kingdom for a peace deal to unite Cyprus under a federal umbrella.
