China has opposed the long-range intercontinental missile launched by North Korea on Tuesday.

Addressing a news briefing in Beijing on Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuan termed the launch of missile as violation of the United Nations Security Council's resolutions.

He expressed hope that all the stakeholders concerned would exercise calm and restraint to ease tensions in the Korean peninsula.

Meanwhile, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov called North Korea's latest test launch of a ballistic missile a breach of the United Nations Security Council's resolutions.

In a statement, he said dialogue was the only way to defuse tensions with Pyongyang.
