Fifth round of talks between the Syrian government and opposition begins in the Kazakh capital Astana on Tuesday.

The two-day talks are sponsored by Russia, Iran and Turkey.

The previous round of negotiations in early May ended with a commitment to establish four "de-escalation zones", which both sides would refrain from attacking.

A successful agreement between the parties could build momentum for the UN-sponsored peace talks in Geneva on 10th of this month.
