58th death anniversary of eminent Urdu writer Shaukat Thanvi was observed on Tuesday.  

He was born in 1904 and wrote some sixty books including collection of short stories, novels and essays.

He was awarded Tamgha-i-Imtiaz for his services in Urdu literature. He died on this day in 1963.
