National Assembly passes three bills
The National Assembly on Tuesday passed three bills.
These are "Central Law Officers (Amendment) Bill, 2016", "The Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils (Amendment) Bill, 2016" and "The Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2016".
The bills were moved by Law Minister Zahid Hamid.
Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has accepted the resignation of MNA Abdul Hakeem Baloch who had been elected from NA-258 Karachi on PML-N ticket.
After the acceptance of the resignation, the Speaker declared that NA-258 constituency seat stand vacant.
The National Assembly resumed discussion on the Report of the Committee on FATA Reforms.
Taking part in the debate, Syed Naveed Qamar said no reforms should be made without the consent of the people of FATA.
He said federal government can implement all laws of the settled areas in FATA through a notification.
Similarly, jurisdiction of the Supreme and the High Courts can be extended immediately.
Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said reforms in FATA will augur well for the people of the area.
He said the people of FATA should be given representation in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in upcoming general elections of 2018.
Ghulam Ahmad Bilour said recommendations of the FATA Reforms Committee without any delay to mainstream the people of tribal areas. He said the merger of FATA into Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa before general elections of 2018.
Abdul Wasim said FATA should be given provincial status instead of merging it into Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. He said provincial status will give more economic independence.
