In Syria, 15 Turkey-backed rebels have been killed in fighting with Islamic State militants in northern part of the country.

The latest fighting marks an escalation since Turkish troops crossed the border into Syria on 24th August to back opposition fighters battling Islamic State.

The Turkish army also fired on Islamic State targets from inside Turkey after the jihadists used rockets to target the Turkish border town of Kilis.

Meanwhile, thirteen Islamic State militants have been killed in airstrikes of US-backed coalition.
