Elaborate security arrangements have been made to maintain law and order on 9th and 10th of Muharram in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA.
In Peshawar, over a dozen Alam, Zuljanah and Tazia processions will be taken out. The main procession will be taken out from Qissa Khawani Imam Bargah Alamdar after Zuhr.
The processions after passing through its traditional routs will terminate at their starting points.
Tight security arrangements have been made around Imam Bargahs and processions routes.
In Peshawar, 7000 police and law enforcing agencies’ personnel have been deployed.
The main procession of Alam and Zuljanah of 9th Muharram was taken out from Imam Bargah Hussainia Hall at Saddar Road Peshawar.
The procession after passing through its traditional route concluded on the same place this afternoon.
On this occasion, strict security arrangements were made and additional six hundred police and FC personnel deployed. The entire link roads and streets leading to the procession route were also sealed off.
According to Provincial Home and Tribal Affairs Department sources, the government has declared eight districts as most sensitive and twelve as sensitive.
Similarly, more than 500 Imam Bargahs across the province have been declared sensitive while 450 other religious places categorized as sensitive.
Police and other law enforcing agencies’ contingents are accompanying Muharram processions and patrolling around 193 major Imam Bargahs in the province.
Aerial surveillance of mourning processions is also being carried out.
Meanwhile, talking to media persons in Parachinar, Commandant Kurram Militia Colonel Maqbool Ahmad said six thousand security personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order in the agency.
